Dr. Sommer Dougherty

Dr. Sommer Dougherty was born and raised on Long Island in a home always open to dogs and cats of different backgrounds. She spent most of her childhood on the beaches of the North Shore learning about any sea creature she could. She spent her undergraduate years at the University of Florida (go Gators!) where she enjoyed working with horses and attending football games. She then earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Cornell University. Dr. Dougherty's favorite part of being a veterinarian is building a relationship with clients and their pets. Preventative care centered around client education and an interactive approach is her ultimate goal. Outside of work you will find her spending time with her cat Mittens or riding her horse Sam. She can also still be found on the beaches of the north shore watching horseshoe crabs and any wild bird she can find.
